The Death Of Common Sense

They’ll take your money keep you poor
They’ll pull your house down take your door
They’ll break your spirit that’s for sure
They’ll kick you when your down and when you get back up to fight
They’ll change the laws (just to keep you quiet)

They’ll fill your head up with their lies
They’ll pull the blanket over your eyes.
They’ll tell you what you’re seeing just ain’t true
And what you’re reading’s just a biased left wing opinion,
Designed to stir up trouble
And certain to cause negative economic growth
And democracy becomes a corporate slave, wasting in the shadows

And the puppet masters pull the strings
They crown the jester to be king
They tell him what to say and how to act
What is false and what is fact
They set him loose but hold the noose (it’s made of purse-strings)
While the lawyers cut the deal in the backroom
Then they all go out to lunch

While politicians sit on the fence and boast of what they’ll implement
The slander and the accusations fly, meanwhile the passers by all
Run or stay to fight, depending on their version of events
And somewhere outside the funeral bells are tolling,
For the death of common sense
